Golden Chain Tree
Laburnum Anagyroides
A small, short lived, highly ornamental tree native to Europe. Rarely planted in New Brunswick. Beautiful fragrant, drooping, golden-yellow flowers adorn the branches in late spring. Insect pollinated flowers are ‘perfect’ containing both male and female parts. The shallow roots should be covered with mulch as they are sensitive to frost and heat. It is best planted in spring or early fall when the temperature is milder as it struggles in hot, humid environments. ALL TREE PARTS ARE POISONOUS TO HUMANS AND DOMESTIC ANIMALS IF INGESTED, ESPECIALLY THE SEEDS.
